WE HAVE MOVED!!

Harwood Arabian Stud has moved to its new home at Larkinglass Farm, Motcombe, Near Shaftesbury, Dorset SP7 9HY. Johnnie and Georgie Moore have made the decision to relocate the stud and themselves to the West country. Georgie can be contacted on her mobile 07798 524530.

The Moores have been wonderfully supported by Stud Manager Peter Towler and Sarah and Maurisa Sterry since Monica Calvert's death in February 2007. It has proved impractical to run two properties, at a distance from each other and although very sad to leave West Sussex the Moores are excited by the future possibilities and with their involvement with Larkinglass Ltd. This includes a stud of thoroughbreds and some Arabians overseen by Mrs Liz Harrington and it is also the home to a training yard of National Hunt and Flat horses under the care of young trainer Neil Mulholland. The move will enable the Harwood Stud to continue and flourish. www.larkinglass.com is the website.

We have said a sad farewell to Peter who has been a valuable member of the Harwood team for almost a decade. He is in the West Country to working for Georgian Arabians based near Minehead in Somerset. We expect to keep up to date with his and the Sterrys's news and we shall let them know the news of the horses they cared for at Harwood.

Angie Teear has sent us news of Simfony's (General Reflection/Marceline) successes at her first show. She won her in hand class and stood reserve champion. She has now been to another show and won again. She is principally Angie's riding horse and is busy doing flatwork, show jumping and cross country schooling. Angie sent the photograph below of her at her first show and she certainly looks a picture.

Valda Angier recently acquired Melissa Rose to join daughter Lorna Ewin's Fairwinds Jedi. She is a sweet mare by Kasadi out of Kathryn Rose who excels on affection and nurture and we hope they will find her a kind and enjoyable ride.

On June 10th yearling colt Orlando (Om El Mareikh/Caecilia) and two year old fillies Blanche (Saker/Bhavna) and Montanna (Kasadi/Perle d'Azur) left to join the Warburtons in Cheshire. Heather Warburton who is doing so well with Izaak, see below, came on a visit in May with husband Ian. She is increasing her interest in the Arabians at their Cleveland Bay Whippletree Stud. Ian takes lovely photographs some of which are reproduced below. Ian and Heather's stud can be found at www.whippletreestud.com

3 year olds Myrtle (Saker/Miralda) Mungo (Bengali d'Albret/Perle d'Azur) and Charmaine (Kasadi/Freyr)

Marie Hewitt sent these adorable photos of her new foal by the Appaloosa stallion Private B Riker out of her Tyga Lily. We wait to see if he develops spots.

and with Mum below

We only took one horse this year to the South of England Show and this was yearling filly Fleurr by Om El Mareikh out of Freyr. Fleurr took3rd prize in her class. Mr Aggad's filly by Mareikh won the class so although Mareikh is leased not owned by Harwood we still felt it kept the winning in the family. She went on to win the Junior Championship.

Caroline Long e mailed us on Monday 9th June to say that Dulciya had achieved her first Grade 1 award the day before in the 39km EGB ride at Breamore in Wiltshire. Well done to them both. Dulciya is so capable but has found it all quite exciting in the past and now she has shown maturity and calm.

We were very pleased that Sue Wilks sent Ffiligree back to Om El Mareikh and her mare is duly in foal and has returned home. Below is a photo of her 2007 colt by Mareikh called Darcy who has been sold and will be produced by Mark Gamlin. We can understand why Sue sent Ffiligree back. Darcy closely resembles our Kirstie.

News of a Kasadi daughter came from Justine Rodgers with her 14 year old Dreamfields Mahkasite bred by Lynda Free. Mahkasite looks a real chip off the old block below. Justine won at Hocon last year but is now advancing her jumping into ODEs and they have won BD points which should be very helpful in this full on sport.

February 16th first foal of the year at Harwood was a chestnut filly by Om El Mareikh out of American bred Maria, a maiden mare property of Mr Aggad's Round Oak. Maria is delighted with her darling daughter. She is pictured below in June the foal still rather fluffy with the good coat she was born with in February.

Suzanne Cruise has sent news of daughter Natalie's success with Spiros (Saker) winning the Junior Points cup to be presented at Malvern this Summer. Suzanne came sixth with Galoul (Kasadi) in the senior section. [Jedi (Kasadi) came ninth]. Natalie has A levels to contend with this year but will be doing low level endurance. Suzanne is hoping to affiliate Galoul and concentrate on their dressage primarily this Summer. We look forward to hearing of their progress and wish Natalie very good luck with her exams. Below is a photograph sent us by Suzanne of Galoul enjoying a gallop at Ross on Wye in April but still keeping his eyes open enough to shy at Wendy Lileygreen a professional photographer whom we thank for permission to show her photograph.

Gudron Van Teverar has rung us to say her Red House Zia has had a lovely chestnut filly by Om El Mareikh on 24th April. She is very thrilled and Zia is returning to Mareikh this Summer.

May 6th and Kerry Wilson has sent us these adorable photographs of her colt GAS Polaris out of her attractive grey mare GAS Paloma. She has taken these photographs at 12 hours old and he seems to be getting to grip with his new surroundings very quickly. He will probably be grey like his mum but nearly black now is very striking.

14th May and Heather Warburton has rung to tell me that Izaak won the 80km (50mile) ER at RAF Cranwell ,
by a second or two short of 17 minutes last weekend. On the day she sadly felt very 'fluey and her friend Terry Madden whose own horse was unable to compete, took Izaak round and had a wonderful ride from him. Many congratulations to Heather and Izaak. Two weeks later after a photograph of Izaak in Horse and Hound, Heather has ridden Izaak at the Dukeries and won again over 80km 19 minutes the fastest. Below are a couple of photographs taken by Heather's husband Ian of triumphant Heather and Izaak and a shot of them riding in with two members of the Bahrain team. June 21st weekend and Izaak does it again winning another 50 mile race this time at RAF Cranwell.
